Photo Organization

Photo Archive Template

Organize your photos by date and event with automatic sequential numbering. Perfect for photographers, event documentation, and anyone building a well-structured photo library.

Naming Pattern {date:YYYY-MM-DD}-{event}-{counter:000}

Template Fields

Field Description Example
{date:YYYY-MM-DD} Auto Photo date in ISO format (uses EXIF date when available) 2024-06-15
{event} Optional Event or occasion name vacation, wedding, birthday
{counter:000} Auto Sequential number with zero-padding (001, 002, 003...) 001, 042, 156

EXIF Date Detection

When processing photos with EXIF metadata, FilesDesk automatically uses the DateTimeOriginal field for accurate date extraction, ensuring your photos are organized by when they were actually taken.

How It Works

  1. 1 Identify the event or occasion - FilesDesk AI analyzes your photo content or folder structure to suggest an appropriate event name.
  2. 2 Use EXIF data for date when available - The system reads EXIF metadata to extract the actual capture date, falling back to file dates if needed.
  3. 3 Apply sequential counter - Photos are numbered in order, maintaining your intended sequence with consistent zero-padded numbers.

Transformations Applied

Lowercase

Event name is automatically converted to lowercase for consistent, clean filenames (e.g., "Beach Vacation" becomes "beach-vacation")

Hyphen Separator

Uses hyphens (-) between date, event, and counter for easy readability and sorting

ISO Date Format

Dates are formatted as YYYY-MM-DD for proper chronological sorting in file explorers
