Finder Integration & Menu Bar (macOS)
Rename files right from Finder or the menu bar — without ever opening the app window.
What It Is
FilesDesk integrates into macOS itself: a right-click Quick Action in Finder, a menu-bar icon with instant actions, and a Dock-free background mode.
How It Helps You
- Zero context-switching — rename where your files already are.
- Always on — watchers and Organize Flows keep working with the window closed.
- Native feel — real Quick Actions, real Finder tags, system dark mode.
Right-Click in Finder
Select files → right-click → Rename with FilesDesk. The app opens with your selection loaded and the preview ready. First use asks once for permission to read the Finder selection.
Not seeing it? Launch FilesDesk once after installing, then enable it under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Extensions → Finder.
Menu Bar
- Rename Selected Files — processes the current Finder selection instantly.
- Recent — your latest renames at a glance.
- Open the main window, or quit.
Dock-Free Mode
Close the window and FilesDesk lives on in the menu bar with the Dock icon hidden — automation continues in the background. The interface follows the system’s light and dark appearance automatically.
Industries That Benefit
| Industry | How they use it |
|---|---|
| Busy professionals | Two clicks in Finder replace the whole open-app-drag-files routine. |
| Assistants & office managers | The menu bar shows recent renames — quick verification without opening anything. |
| Mac-first teams | Feels like part of macOS, so adoption needs no training. |
