Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)

BYOK means bringing your own API key from an AI provider instead of using FilesDesk's managed credits.

Requirements

BYOK requires the Lifetime license ($40 one-time) — subscriptions only include managed AI credits and don't support your own keys.

Setup

    Get an API key

    Create an account with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or OpenRouter and generate an API key.

    Add it in Settings

    Open FilesDesk, go to Settings, and paste your key under the provider you chose.

  3. 3

    Select your model

    Choose the specific model you want FilesDesk to use for renaming.

Your key stays local. API keys are stored in your operating system's own credential store (Windows Credential Manager or macOS Keychain), encrypted by the OS and never transmitted to FilesDesk's servers.
