Choosing Your AI Mode

FilesDesk can generate file names three different ways. Pick whichever fits how you want to pay and where you want processing to happen.

FilesDesk AI (Managed)

The easiest way to start. Sign up for a subscription plan (Basic or Pro) and credits are included — no API keys needed. Go to Settings and select FilesDesk AI as your AI model to use your included credits.

Self-Managed (Bring Your Own Key)

Purchase the Lifetime license and add your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or OpenRouter in Settings. Your files never leave your device except to call the provider you chose, and you pay that provider directly for usage.

Local AI with Ollama (Free)

Install Ollama, download a vision-capable model, and point FilesDesk at it in Settings. Everything runs on your machine — 100% offline, no per-file cost, and no data ever leaves your device.
